A Very Nice Contrast

Anna, of Black and Spiro in Brisbane, AU, and the seriously amazing blog, Absolutely Beautiful Things, is one of my favorites because she is so talented at putting things you would never think of together and making them look like they were meant for each other.

That talent includes unusual color combinations, loud patterns on conservative furniture, bright paint where most people would use neutral etc. but one of my favorite unexpected combinations is old and new.

Take this picture for instance, where Anna paired a Louis XV chair with neutral upholstery (very proper!) with fresh, bright, young, loud curtains.

Taking old classics and bringing them into vogue...I love it!

Wedding at the Lake

Headed to the lake today for my big sister's wedding this weekend!  Everyone hope for sunshine and that all the thousands of ribbons that need to be tied into bows for various purposes somehow get tied before Saturday!!

Wedding Shower Mania

Wedding shower with friends in NYC...check.
Bachelorette party in NYC....check.
Wedding shower with family in VT...check.

The wedding shower at King's Carriage House in NYC was lovely and relaxing...

...then there was the family shower in VT...

...it was.....a little hectic.  But I think it turned out well!

Too bad all the attention got stolen by two cute babies!!

But my sister, the Bride-to-Be looked cute, too!

Now all I have left is the dreaded Maid of Honor speech at the reception!!....9 days to go...

Decorating Photo of the Day

I've been loving pale blue walls lately.  A slightly safer and more fun version of white walls - retains the light freshness of white, but runs less of a risk of looking stark and cold.  And, of course, the fabric for the throw pillows is beautiful, too.  Picking just one major fabric pattern and repeating it around the room helps maintain the light airiness.
